Pack Rechartering
Every spring, Pack 910 has to “Recharter” itself with Old Hickory Council and thus the Boy Scouts of America. Essentially we have to re-register everyone who wants to participate in scouting for the coming year. Those who’ve been with us for more than just this year will remember this process. Those that joined in the fall, it will be new for you.
All Scouts who are interested in participating in Scouting this Summer (including Residence Camp and the Old Hickory Council Day Camp) and for the next School Year, must register so Pack 910 can be rechartered by the Old Hickory Council. Our current charter expires the end of March, and our information has to be with the Council by mid-March. Our Webelos IIs will be bridged to Boy Scouts before this is all due and will thus register with Troop 910 or the troop of their choice.
Due to the strong sales of popcorn last fall, the Pack Committee decided to lower this year’s dues to $100. Our Pack Budget determines that it costs the Pack approximately $110 per Scout to cover expenses such as the awards, rank books, T-shirts, national Scout registration, Boys' Life subscription, Pinewood Derby cars and other programs. However, the strong sales can offset some of that and as a result we’re able to adjust everyone’s fees. Please note that Pack fees do not include special activities such as the Parent-Son Camporee, Residence Camp, Zoo Snooze, etc.
In closing, we want to emphasize that we do not want Scouting to be a financial burden, and we do not want any family to feel they cannot afford for their son(s) to participate. Pack 910 has a need based Scholarship Fund. The purpose of this Fund is to pay for any and all costs of the program that a family cannot cover. Every boy should have an opportunity to participate in Pack 910. To learn more about this fund, please contact Pack Committee Chair
